WIll all Skyrac athletes please be aware of the following legislation. If you have any concerns whatsoever on the use of inhalers can you please contact the skyrac coaches on our main training nights.

Use of Inhalers

Clearance must be obtained from UK Athletics when an athlete uses any of the following inhalers:

SALBUTAMOL (Ventolin)

TERBUTALINE (Bricanyl)

SALMETEROL (Serevent)

This is important, as failure to declare the use of these inhalers could lead to a failed drug test.

Athletes should apply for clearance to use these inhalers from Dr Malcolm W Brown at UK Athletics, stating the name of the inhaler, recommended dose, the name and address of the prescribing doctor, and the expected duration of treatment.

Alternatively, clearance forms are available from the Skyrac clubhouse or from the UK Athletics website.

The use of corticosteroids by inhaler (Becotide, Pulmicort) does not require prior permission, but should be declared if an athlete is drug tested.

It is up to you the athlete to notify the club of your medication and it is up to you as the athlete to notify UK Athletics on the appropriate clearnace form.
